The project aimed to design a visually stunning and highly engaging webpage for the History of Africa site, focusing on a specific year in the 10th century. The design was to include a timeline of the century, an interactive map of Africa for the selected year, and detailed insights into significant events. The goal was to create an immersive experience that would captivate users and bring the history of Africa to life through a unique visual style and interactive elements.

KEY FINDINGS

  1. Users wanted a rich, immersive experience that would make the history of Africa feel alive and relevant.


  2. There was a strong desire for visual representations, such as maps and timelines, to better understand the context and progression of historical events.


  3. Interactivity was seen as a key factor in engaging users, particularly younger audiences.

OBJECTIVES

  1. Visual Engagement: Design a unique and captivating visual style that reflects the time period and immerses users in the history of Africa.

  3. Usability: Ensure that the design is intuitive and user-friendly, allowing users to easily navigate and interact with the content.

This project was carried out in 5 days. It required a creative process to streamline the experience as quickly as possible. Following through thorough research and creative spring, I opted for a strategic design approach.
